Christmas Historian

Santa Claus has been delivering toys to children worldwide for hundreds and hundreds of years. Each passing year comes with its own unique magical elements. As sub-northern, human cultures change and evolve, Christmas and the way we celebrate it does too.

Here at the North Pole, we like to keep track of these changes every holiday season. From the invention of the beloved candy cane to the introduction of “elf on the shelf”, the job of our Christmas historian is to understand human’s relationship with Christmas, study its evolution, and record it in Santa’s Big Book of Christmas Time.

Understanding the evolution of Christmas celebration does not only allow us to honour traditions and reminisce on holidays past, but it also allows our many departments to bring new elements of Christmas cheer into the years ahead.

In addition to studying human activity on the lead up to the holidays and taking field notes, our Christmas historian works closely with the toy department to invent new gizmos sure to thrill children of the 21st century.
