We—my wife and I—came to the North Pole together. We enlisted because we wanted a new life somewhere far from the hustle and bustle of the city. We wanted a quaint home in the country—and boy, let me tell you, we were not disappointed. We’re about as far from another community as you can get. Traffic? Nonexistent. Shopping pavilions? Got none of those. Neighbours? Heck no. Restaurants? Forget it. Here, all that stands between you and oblivion is upper management. It’s perfect.

I came to the North Pole craving adventure. I yearned to explore the final frontier, taming the land just like the explorers of yore. Cook, Hudson, Mackenzie—their past flowed through my blood. I journeyed for hundreds of miles over barren tundra, braving the fierce frosty winds with only the pemmican and trail mix in my pocket to keep me nourished. When I arrived at Santa’s shop, I was greeted by gruel and lead-laden water and given a job as a gingerbread housebuilder. The work was exhausting, the pay a pittance, and the weather abominable. I couldn’t have asked for better.
